Think about your life over the past nine months. I’ll bet the overwhelming majority of your meetings have been virtual. How about your kids? They’re attending school, virtually. You’re checking in with family over the holidays, virtually. How about dinner and drinks with friends? I bet those get-togethers have become virtual too. Since Covid-19 thrust us (unwillingly) into a world of virtual events and social distancing, we have proven resilient and adaptable. It may not always have been pretty, (raise your hand if you’ve heard the phrase, ‘can you hear me?’ at least once per virtual meeting,) but life has gone on. As we approach the holidays, we are more skilled in Zoom, Google Hangouts, FaceTime, and Skype than ever before. But the holidays are a season for giving – are we prepared to apply our newfound tech skills to the world of virtual donations and fundraising? We’ve moved our entire lives to a virtual platform, why should donating be any different?

Corporations, large and small, have learned to conduct their businesses differently, and nonprofit organizations are no exception. More nonprofits are turning to the web for their fundraising efforts than ever before. In fact, 2020 has become the year of virtual fundraising for nonprofits worldwide. As we approach the end of December, we find ourselves in the middle of the year-end giving season. With virtual events rapidly becoming effective replacements for in-person galas, you’re probably receiving more invitations than you know what to do with. Which organizations will you support? Will you go to more “events” because they are virtual or less?

GPS Education Partners is a non-profit work-based learning solutions provider and advocate. Representing students, businesses, and communities, GPSEd focuses on access and equity for all students, so everyone is given equal opportunity to succeed in a sustainable career. Now, there’s a mission worth supporting.

You knew it was coming. Like any good nonprofit that relies on the support of generous donors, here at GPSEd, we are committed to staying connected to our supporters. Your financial donations allow our students the physical materials needed for their academic success. Your donations of time and talent offer our students valuable life skills, as well as role models and mentors, which many of our students are lacking.

As we close out 2020, please mark your calendars for March 11th, 2021. GPSEd is hosting a virtual fundraising event, where you can help transform the life of a student. Sponsorship opportunities come in all forms, from full student sponsorships to supporting student’s basic needs, such as Chromebooks and school fees. Think about it, how different would your life have been during the pandemic without the tools you needed to go virtual? There has never been a better time to invest in the future of our youth.
